today I learned: contrary to predictions in science fiction, the human body can briefly survive in outer space unprotected, and that the human skin doubles in size, more resembling a body builder than a balloon. NEAT. also, the whipping tom of 1681 would assault women, lifting their dresses and slapping their buttocks while yelling “SPANKO!” (hahahah. awful to laugh, but I really can’t help it. I mean, “spanko”?! hahah). next, the doctor who claimed a link between vaccines and autism created fraudulent data for his paper and lost his medical license as a result. aand finally, a man gave away his fortune to charity and also donated a kidney to a stranger, noting that the chances of dying as a result of the procedure were about 1 in 4,000, and “to withhold a kidney from someone who would otherwise die means valuing one’s own life at 4,000 times that of a stranger”. I like this man.
