today I learned:
- a man on death row escaped from prison the night before his execution only to be killed in a bar fight the following night.
- in ancient athens, the world’s first democracy, they had a process called ostracism, where once a year the people would vote on the politician they thought was most destructive to the democratic process. the “winner” was then banished from athens for 10 years (wish we could still do this…)
- an indian man single-handedly planted a 1,360-acre forest.
- according to 2 nobel prize winners, tripping on LSD has aided them in their scientific discoveries.
